As a child I was drawn to photographs of Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, and W. Eugene Smith. The intimacy and strength of the media and its ability to provide a glimpse into other lives, other cultures, other times, hooked me at an early age. Over the years my photographic interests have broadened, but retain roots in photojournalism. Coming from a large family, my early subjects were my sister and brothers. Photographing people continues to be a main area of interest. The subject matter is endless. In a world that moves so fast and contains so many distractions, picking up a camera gives you license to step back from the crowd and pause. |
