Artist Bio

As a child I was fascinated by the photographs of Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, and W. Eugene Smith.  The intimacy and strength of the media and it’s ability to provide a glimpse into other lives, other cultures, other times, hooked me at an early age.  Over the years my photographic interests have broadened, but retain roots in photojournalism.

Coming from a large family, my early subjects were my brothers and sister.  Photographing people continues to be a main area of interest and that which gives me the greatest joy.  The subject matter is endless.  In a world that moves so fast and contains so many distractions, picking up a camera gives you license to step back from the crowd and pause.  And it’s in the pause that you find the image.

My images can be seen in private collections and have appeared in multiple solo and group shows
